I don't know if I'd call mine "noisy", but I sure can hear it when it's on standby. That's because it's always acting as if it's "on" which means you might come along and turn the tv on and want to go back to the start of the show and watch the whole thing. So, unless you go into the menu to turn it off, it's never really in standby mode.
i do no longer, while the electrician got here to verify ym electrics and he tripped the fuse field some situations inflicting the electrics to cut back out some situations... After this it made a poor humming noise for roughly 20 minutes, even on standby, so i became it off on the wall and left it for 10 minutes then became it back on and now it somewhat is fantastic, i havn't had a similar issue back on the grounds that!! wish this enables.. x

Mine doesn't make any noise even when i'm recording or fast forwarding things - i'd ring sky
it's not supposed to be noisy infact they're not supposed to make any noise at all
