Actually, "none" is the correct answer. Therapy, simple meditation, self-hypnosis, and deep breathing help more in the long run than medication which can be mentally and physically addicting and in some cases debilitating. You can overcome the problem with some help and some willpower.
You would need to talk to your Doctor and they would recommend a medication for you to try. Your Doctor might refer you on to a Psychiatrist who would discuss with you treatments for your anxiety. Also medication can reduce the symtoms but not the cause. To help deal with the cause of you anxiety you would need to to talk to a therapist.
I have been using this alternative therapy called Emotional Freedom Technique on my anxiety and depression which has helped me a lot. It's very good at getting rid of all kinds of negative emotions and dealing with all kinds of issues quickly. It does sound crazy but does work. It might be something that can help you. Try some of the techniques from the third link.
How about avoiding the many side effects of psychotropic drugs? There are some natural things you can do: avoid caffeine, keep sugar low (that includes foods/drinks with high fructose corn syrup, try a multi-vitamin, eat balance meals. Keeping your body calm helps keep YOU calm. Then you can work on any emotional situation which is causing anxiety.
My friend if you will just give it a shot...get Black tea...if you can find the type with cinnamon and ginger already added..it will be even better. I drink TAZO Black tea.
Black tea has now been scientifically proven to cut stress and anxiety...my heart no longer aches when I have a task to do..or pounds like crazy for no reason.
If you cannot find the type with cinnamon, get the spice and shake some in the tea yourself.
i used to have anxiety attacks. first you have to get to the root of the problem, focus on the positive stuff and relax. chamomile tea works, i also took this tincture called "valerian mix", it had valerian, passionflower, hops, and california poppy, all of which are sedatives and relax you. i also started taking st. johns wort capsuls, it worked for me for depression. but the thing for anxiety, was weed... without it id probably still have anixety attacks.
ZOLOFT...seriously..its an anti-depressant and helps with anxiety...my dotcor prescribedit to me a year ago because i had LOTS of anxiety!!!! It works great =D

Puter PRS has a point but some times we have to take medication and I know I was there for 20 years
It depends on how bad you have anxiety, what medications allergic to. Personally xanax has worked for me in the past. Now I don't use anything.
