Did the White House really turn down this offer?
I heard that IBM offered to work on reducing fraud in the US Government for free. And the White House turned them down.
Now I could suggest a number of nefarious reasons for turning down such an offer. But considering the cost of waste, fraud, and abuse in the US Government today, what it was going to cost the taxpayers, how big the deficit is, and how far in debt we are, refusing help at NO COST makes no sense.

I guarantee that IBM knows, and may even care, more about how to make a business efficient and effective.
I can accept that some jerk in government had some concerns over some thing or another. But there is no justification for not being able to reconcile any concerns and actually try to find fraud and waste within the system. This is just another indicator that the pigs and slobs just don't have a grip on why the electorate is about to rip some new openings for them to use.
No, since the offer was not to reduce waste and fraud, but to save money in IT by utilizing their ideas. And guess what? They also sell many of the products and services used to deliver these solutions.
Technology CEO Council, including IBM's Sam Palmisano, Intel's Paul Otellini, Motorola's Greg Brown, Micron Technology's Steven Appleton, EMC's Joseph Tucci and Applied Materials' Michael Splinter, offered several technology-fueled suggestions.
The council thinks the federal government could shave up to 30 percent off its annual $76 billion expenditure to maintain IT assets by "reducing IT overhead, consolidating data centers, eliminating redundant networks and standardizing applications."
Because Obama is smart. Give the keys to IBM?? Unlikely!
I doubt it. That would mean the government would have to cede power, they will never do that.
