There is going to be a huge due bill over the oil spill mess....and it seems that it might be a logical thing to make some legal moves to make sure the clean up funds are going to come from BP assets.

I think it only occurred to a few people at the very beginning that BP shareholders ARE BP...and now everyone has figured that out and just exactly what that means. For a long time...and still by some who are NOT so bright....everyone was talking as though BP was a person with a lot of money...and now everyone has figured out that BP is a lot of individual Americans and Brits.

Nationalize it? No,....but, still, tax money shouldn't be used to clean up the spill. The Brits surely wouldn't use Brit tax money to clean up the spill from an American company...heck, they wouldn't even use tax money to fix Windsor Castle after the fire.

What is the answer? Some kind of lien for future damage money against a company with nearly 40 percent of it's shareholders being Americans....maybe... After all, nearly 40 percent of BP is held either by individual American shareholders as BP stock...or as part of an American mutual fund they own.

This is a really interesting and certainly is going to require a lot of critical thinking from both smart leftists, rightist, Brits and Americans. Hope we can find a great solution without further damaging our already fragile economies.

Certainly not. Just because he is throwing a hissy fit because he dropped the ball, he wants to make someone pay. If Hollywood celebs think its a good idea, then that is the number one indication that its a very bad idea. I don't see any of them on the Gulf beaches helping out. No No No.........Our dear so freakin involved President should have thought about the oil coming on shore from the get go rather than go on vacation. It is his responsibility to protect our homeland. He did not do that. This rig was way out in the ocean, BP was trying to contain the actual gushing of oil and O should have foreseen we needed to control where this oil would go and start containing it. He says he was in touch and on top of this spill from the get go. Bull.....He left it up to BP. They could have used some help Mr. President party goer!!
