I got my Helix pierced at Claire's a few days ago, I know, really bad idea. But I didn't know the dangers of a gun at the time. I want to get a CBR and I have no idea what gauge to get. I have a plain stud right now. I was also wondering when it would be safe to change. Oh, and does Claire's carry CBRs? Help!!

Hi! A good size for your helix is a 18g or 16g. As far as I know Claire's doesn't sell CBR's, but I wouldn't trust buying them there. Helix piercings take months to heal, the earliest I would change it if I felt completely and totally comfortable with is 2 and a half months. I got mine pierced in August 2010 I just changed mine in January (I think) because is was sore, and still was a little sore when I changed it.Oh and PLEASE do not use the cleaner they gave you! It is complete and utter crap, they know literally nothing abut real piercings, because A) piercing guns are illegal to be used for anything but ear lobes, in most places. Anyway, for cleaning your cartilage piercing go out and buy some Non iodized sea salt and use one teaspoon per cup of water. Stir it up until the salt is all diluted, then dip a cotton pad into it and fold it in haf and get some of the access water out then hold it on the back of your ear for 3-5 minutes, then get a new pad and do the same with the front. Once you're done rinse you ear with cool water to remove any access salt that will irritate if it dries up on your piercing. This solution is the eighth wonder of the world if you get an infection and/or a keloid. Hope I answered your question :P if you need anything more, Please please please feel free to e-mail me :)
PS Sorry about the rant about Claires and piercing, That just REALLY pi$$e$ me off >:F
yes claires carries them. but not the size you need. go to spencers or hot topic. you need a 20 or 18 gauge. they pierce it at a 20 gauge. when its safe to change it will not hurt a bit when u move it. wait a few months. like 4 to be safe.
