In all honesty, you will definitely want these fish for sure just to help keep the tank clean.
1. Plecostomus:
They eat all the algae in the fish tank (except the small area's they cant fit into because they do grow to be very large fish). Best way to pick one out that will do it's job is to look at the fish tanks in the store, find the one that's more active than the rest and that's the one you will want.
2. Bottom dwellers such as the corydoras catfish or the kuhli loaches. They not only are very peaceful, and entertaining to watch, but they eat the food that sinks to the bottom of the tank that your other fish will not want to eat.
Now on to the next step, selecting fish you want. You can pick all sorts of different fish at this stage. ANd since your tank is fairly large, you can get numerous varieties. I own a 35 gallon tank with one male and one female beta, 4 neon tetras, a corydoras catfish, and a plecostomus.
You could get some Zebra tetras, neon tetras, rainbow sharks if you wanted, there's just so many. If you do want to get a beta for your tank I do recommend supplying a floting device for him to rest on that is partially in the water. And whatever you do don't get zebra tetras, or molly's. They like to tear a beta's fins up.
