All that gastric bypass surgery essentially does is make your stomach smaller and reduces the amount of food you absorb. It is risky surgery, and there can be severe side effects. It is very costly, and most insurance plans, government plans, etc. won't cover it. Perhaps if you have obesity related illnesses.
The good news is, you can get the same results without the risk. You don't need surgery to make your stomach smaller so you eat less. You can do this without the risk of infection, bleeding, and nutritional deficiencies.
You need to see a dietitian (many low income clinics have one that you can see for free of very low cost), and learn to eat small and healthy frequent meals. Going by when you feel full is not an option. You need to literally measure out your food for proper portions. Eat whole grains, lean protein, and good fats.
When you want to snack, exercise. If you can't walk, try arm and leg exercises from a chair until you can go for walks around the block.
Keep cut up veggies and plain air popped popcorn for healthy snacks.
There is no miracle cure for weight loss. But you have to want to make the effort for yourself.
Richard Simmons has a great video set/program that would help someone in your position. Check your local library or see if you can order his videos for cheap on E-bay.
