No. You are not supposed to bleed when you are on the Depo shot.
I started having spotting when I got my 2nd shot and the Dr. told me that meant it was not working properly and I had to look at other alternatives. You should talk to your Dr. about it because there is no sense getting this shot if it is not working correctly.
Its all normal. The shot really messes up your cycle. Some don't bleed while on it or for years after they get off it and some bleed the first three months. If you bleed longer than the 3 months then you would need to be seen.
Unfortunately it's very normal. Everyone reacts differently. I didn't have much of a period at all, but when I went off the shot (when I should have got a new one) I had a period for 3 months straight and vowed never to take it again. Not only that, but it messes with your moods as well.
Well I was on depo shot for a few years before I went on something else and I had some irregular bleeding and then it stopped. I eventually had problems with it and had to use a different method.
It's fairly common. It takes your body 3-4 months to adjust to any new birth control. You got lucky only having 3 months of bleeding, I went 8 months. I had to take estrogen pills to make it stop but didn't have a period for 2yrs after that.
I tried it for about 6 months, and I did the same thing, and it never got better! Needless to say, I got on the pill after that! It was horrible, and I would not recommend the depo shot to anyone!
i had it years ago and yes i bled for the entire 3 months til the next one. was light but normal i was told. im on the implant now is much better i think.
