Go to your local Barnes and Noble and look for a book called The Politically Incorrect Guide To Hunting.... http://www.amazon.com/gp/reader/1596985216/ref=sib... All sorts of good info in there. Just bring a pen and paper and take notes if you don't feel like purchasing it. The most commonly refered to benefits are going to be.........Basic over population protection, Less deer killed by vehicles, Less humans in vehicles killed by deer, Lower insurance costs, Less animal death caused by painful starvation and disease, wildlife is healthier by far to eat (Bison, elk, and deer, are the three leanest and healthiest red meats to consume), Hunters pay the majority of all wildlife research, management, and protection, as well as the bilogists and conservation wardens who make it possible. And the one that is often overlooked, children brought up with experience in outdoor activities (camping, fishing, and hunting) are less likely to be criminals as adults. Good luck on your essay!
The governing body that issues hunting/fishing licenses collects revenue by selling them, sets limits on the take to maintain a healthy animal population, protects the environment by controlling the population and preventing overgrazing and excessive predation, provides law officers to police the hunters, monitors the animal population and sets the limits accordingly. The hunters pay for the license, buy equipment, control the animal population, and maintain a presence in the remote areas. Without the hunters there would have to be a procedure created to do all the things I mentioned. Taxes would rise to, counteract the loss of revenue from license sales, maintain a larger workforce to do the work the hunters do, purchase and maintain vehicles for the new employees... it goes on. The hunters are providing a valuable service.
Hunting is good because it is the natural order of things. Everything in nature hunts. Lions hunt. Wolves hunt. Bears hunt. Man is a hunter/gather. Even lambs hunt for greener pastures.

It keeps the animal population from out growing their environment which keeps them from over grazing and starving, it reduces illness in the herds, it removes the older bucks/ bulls that no longer breed well, but that still run off the younger breed animals. It puts pure natural protein on your table that isn't full of antibiotics and steroids, it creates lifetime memories for a father/mother and their children.
Hunting is neither Good or Bad.* " Hunting is fun and enjoyable, Killing is neither fun or enjoyable." Very few if any True Hunters, Sportsman, Shooters or Conservationists take pleasure or enjoyment from killing the animals that they harvest.* We appreciate, honor and respect the life of each animal that we harvest for what it has given us in return for taking its life from it.*
In Australia firearm ownership has been drastically put under extreme controls to the point where ownership has dropped by a large number. The result is a rise in the population of vermin. One obvious rise is in rabbit numbers.
The animal populations are adapt to hunting practices, if we stopped now there would be too many for the space that is left and disease, starvation, and other problems would arise.

Hunting is a way to keep animal population under control and it is also a good source of healthy (chemical and hormone free) food.
