Let there be x gal 2% sol and y gal 12% sol.
(2/100)x + (12/100)y = (8/100)(x + y)
x + y = 10 ==> x = 10 - y
(2/100)(10 - y) + (12/100) y = (8/100)(10)
Solve for y and then for x:
4 gal 2% solution,
6 gal 12% solution.
The answer is: 4 gallons of 2% + 6 gallons of 12% = 10 gallons of 8%
