Ok, so here is a little background if it matters...I lived with my mom in a small town for the first 4-5 months of my daughter's life and she was sick pretty much the whole time. We moved about an hour away until three days ago...now we moved back in with her until I can get a place of my own (about 2 weeks from now)...Anyway, the whole time I lived on my own, not with my mom, she was perfectly healthy and happy; well, now that we moved back in my daughter suddenly has a pretty bad cold: runny nose, congested, and throwing up almost everytime she eats. I haven't noticed a fever yet and I am going to buy her some Pedialyte today instead of milk, but I was wondering if I need to call the doctor.
Also, my mom does have a dog (which I didn't have when I was on my own) and my step dad smokes...never when she is in the room, but there is still smoke in the house. So, is it more likely that she is allergic to something but showing signs of a cold, or is it more likely that the pollin count is higher here and that's what caused the cold? I don't want to seem like an overprotective mommy and take her to the doc over a little cold, but she has RSV when she was 4 months and I don't want her to get it again. She went from happy and healthy to sick the day after we moved in (which was Tuesday of this week). I didn't get much sleep last night...went to bed at 1:30 AM when she finally settled, woke at 3 AM to her screaming and throwing up, then again at 5:45 AM for the day...This is exhausting and I don't know what to do to help her. She is 7 months so is there any cold meds she can take? (I would approve it with her doc first of course!)
I am just looking for a little advice! Thanks in advance!
Update:It just worries me that she would get sick immediately after moving here when she was perfectly fine for 3 months!

Hi, everything you have said suggests that this is an allergy of some sort as when you take her out of the environment she improved and when you returned to the environment her symptoms worsened.
If this is the case then cold medication is unlikely to provide any lasting relief, however some antihistamines might ease so of her symptoms (see your dr!!!). Look at everything that is different - dog, smoking, environment (pollen etc) also household products such as soap and soap powder, bedding (dust mites etc). Also consider if her diet has changed in anyway (it really can be something very simple) Try to eliminate contact with these things if possible. It can be difficult to ascertain exactly what the trigger might be, some allergy testing might help but your dr is the best person to advise you on this. Hope this helps. :)
Buy a couple teething rings...the small kind and stick them in the freezer for a little bit until their nice and cold. Let him chew on that. Buy some baby orajel and rub his gums with it every couple hours. Let him chew on piece of ice wrapped in a wash cloth and tied with a rubber band so he cant get the ice cube out. Give him some baby tylenol for his fever. If the Tylenol doesnt help his fever than you need to take him into his doctor. Comfort him as much as you possibly can. If he's teething it should be over soon. good luck
Take her to the doctor right away. if she gets sick so quickly after going to your mom's house, there is something in there that is affecting her the wrong way. You need to find out what it is.
I don't want to alarm you, but you need to make sure your child is healthy.
Good luck!
well we all know that smoking in the house is a no no if you have a child.she could be allergic to dogs too.RSV `season` is over now so she shouldnt get it.take her to the doctor.
I would call the doctor, espeically if she can't keep food or liquids down.
