Would you be offended to get a home made gift for Christmas?
I live on a shoe string budget. When i am finished paying my bills and buying what we need for the household, I have less than $100 left. Christmas is difficult for me because of this. Because of this, I look for less expensive gift ideas. One of my ideas is for a friend. I found out he loves pecan pie. So i plan to bake him a very large one. Another friend likes tea. So i plan on getting her a unique plate at a thrift store, with a tea cup..baking cookies for her..putting a variety of flavored teas on the plate with the cookies and cup and wrapping it up and giving it to her. If you think this is a good idea, can you add in other ideas that I might use for other friends?

I would not be offended to get a home pie or fresh baked cookies as a gift. Baked items like that are welcome and traditional. They are often though of as more special then a store brought item because you put time and effort into making them. (Not to mention a lot of good stuff like sugar and calories.)

I would be happier with a sentimental gift than compared to something I don't even like. I love pecan pie and if someone baked me one I would be so happy because I can I eat it.
I would nix the thrift store tea plate and cup unless it's really elegant and fine and those usually aren't in thrift stores.
Instead, get a box of Earl Grey tea (I just checked the Kroger app and it's under $4 and a couple of holiday mugs from a dollar store.
I think the ideas should work well. I would much rather have a dessert than some useless geegaw to stand on a shelf and collect dust.

If they are true friends, they will love the thought and time you spent on these gifts. Personally, i would prefer things of that nature as opposed to the useless junk more often then not, given as a gift.
