I know in this time everyone is expected to be politically correct, however, with the ongoing wars, the anti-American sentiments by Muslims, why would anyone believe this will be peace building process? Shouldn't his be seen as a sign of gloating by Muslims? Imagine being able to post your victory sign on the trampled ground of your enemy. Come on anyone paying attention, or will we have to be taught another lesson before our eyes are opened.
Update:Many have lost loved ones to criminal acts before, would you allow their family members to post a memorial representative of themselves at your home or the home of the victim? That would be rather stupid and insensitive.

"Turn the other cheek?" wondering why you would think it proper to allow a Mosque to be built, being funded by the same terrorist organizations that blew the World Trade Buildings to smithereens. This is atrocious disrespect to the families whose loved one,s perished, or are maimed for life. This is one of America,s most horrendous day,s-or have you chosen to forget the 3,000 innocent people whose lives were taken by these vicious terrorists This is akin to spitting on these innocent souls graves. This Mosque plans on opening its doors, ironically??? on 9/11-how much more irreverent can this be? The same terrorists organizations, with the help of American politicians pushing for this Mosque- whether it,s 2-3 blocks away, is not the issue. It is beyond comprehension how any person can just sit back and allow this to happen.
So it it an official U.S. policy now that you are at war with the entire muslim world?
That is news indeed! I thought that it was against terrorist groups and countries that harboured them.
Of course that pretense wore a bit thin when you invaded and occupied Iraq. None of the 9/11 hijackers came from Iraq and the majority of them came from Saudi Arabia.
If the U.S. was going to attack other countries for retribution then Saudi Arabia would have been a more logical target.
This anti-muslim sentiment in the U.S. is thinly veiled bigotry and to some extent racism.
If you think that the muslim world despises the U.S. then you have to realize that occupying Iraq and the massive destruction of infrastructure and civilian deaths in Afghanistan is adding fuel to that fire.
So apparently according to your screen name Jebus is Love but you are clearly not.

I don't think "it's a free country" falls under the rubric of political correctness. Rather, it's a fundamental part of the American fabric and set of core beliefs. This is private property that a group of moderate Muslims want to use to build a community center and mosque.
It's not "at the 9/11 World Trade center site," but a few blocks away. Should we ask you what the permitted distance from the WTC is?
Of course I was saddened by those terrible deaths almost a decade ago. However, I'm unwilling to start taking away basic freedoms from people to satisfy the irrational demands of small-minded hateful people. That's not the America I cherish.
No one would support the building of a Mosque at the 9/11 WTC site. It is commercial property, along with the National 9/11 Memorial. Check out the progress of the construction--DO YOU SEE A MOSQUE THERE?????

Stop with these stupid lies. I swear you people are as bad as the Salem witch-hunters the way you make sh** up.
There's a mosque that ALREADY EXISTS two blocks north of the WTC site. They want to tear down their old building and build a new one.
It's not on the World Trade Center site, it's a couple of blocks away. Also, why (besides bigotry) would anyone oppose it? The terrorists who blew up the World Trade Center were just that, terrorists. It does not matter whether they were Muslim Terrorists or Christian Terrorists (Scott Roeder, for example). Grow up and realize that you don't have to be afraid of Muslims, they don't bite any more than anyone else.
"Is war the only way to peace? I don't fall for that." - Dave Matthews ("Last Stop"). You should listen to that song. It describes the sad mentality of the modern world, and the narrow-mindedness of a country that used to believe in tolerance and acceptance of foreign peoples and religions.
It is time to forgive and put the darkness that has befallen America in the post-9/11 years. It is time for the US to stop viewing everything as a "war", "us against them" mentality and "all or nothing" mindset. It is times for us to embrace our beautiful panorama of diversity and forgive our enemies. If we do not, I feel the nation is doomed to failure amd headed towards obsolescence and oblivion.
Someone has been listening to too much Faux, I mean, Fox News. The site is TWO BLOCKS AWAY, not AT the WTC site. Our nation was founded on the principle of freedom of religion. That means freedom for all religions, not just the ones promoting the radical conservative agenda. If we let cons trample on our Constitution, what right will they go after next?
Are you saying that all Muslims support what happened on September 11, 2001? Or that the particular group of Muslims who are asking to build their mosque there either supported or participated in terrorist attacks on the US?
valuable, only likes its consistently Neo con next purpose to suppress somebody elses rights. Neo Con: "valuable they have a "top" to construct it yet they might desire to be gentle and not do it." Does that advise only because you have a "top to submit to palms" you would be gentle and not do it ?
What's with the "us vs. them" rhetoric? Why so adversarial? Why does it matter if they put any kind of building in any particular place? Is that really going to affect your salvation? LOL
