what shall i get for my daughters 3rd birthday?
its her birthday in 3 weeks and i am so stuck as to what to get her! as her birthday is close to xmas its hard! she loves disney princess so i have got her loads of that sort of thing for xmas! shes a girlie girl and advanced for her age! she loves dolls and role play but i have most of that for xmas she is a bit spolit (but arnt they all) so i want something different and fun and not overly expensive as i have gone all out to have a tinkerbell b'day party any ideas please ta

how about some disney princess furniture for her room cuz by the sounds of things she is getting plenty of toys for xmas it would be something different that she can make use of. You can get the furniture and smyths and its not all that expensive

I have this problem too.......my lil girl is 6 on the 1st of December so I am always stuck about what to get her and feel she doesnt get as much as she would because of her birth date!!
Check your local listings for a pottery class, they do children sessions where the kids paint ready made figures like unicorns, princesses that kind of stuff. It usually takes about an hour and a half and all kids love this kind of thing. If you invite a couple of her friends this would be a lovely way to mark her birthday plus all the children come away with a gift..........the one near where I live charge 5 pound per child, which is'nt too bad, maybe a pizza afterwards to top it off!!

Sounds a lot like my daughter. One of the best things she ever got was a huge box full of stickers. She's 5 1/2 now and still makes me refill it every time it runs low. Places like the Great Little Trading company (www.gltc.co.uk) sometimes do ready made ones but it might be more fun to find a really pretty or colourful box (maybe a lunchbox or something) and fill it yourself.
Instead of getting her another toy which will probably get dirty, lost or broken in the next few months, try getting her a memory.I don't really know what is around in that genre these days but maybe like a live Little Mermaid performance for her and a few hundred of her closest friends. I know one of the things I remember most from my early childhood (ages 3-7) are sporting events I went to with my father.
There are some fantastic ideas on here for presents. I have a word of advice, if at three you are stuck in buying something she has too much! I have a teen daughter and i was recently talking to other mum's with teens and we all agree that the only thing we would change was not to buy them so much. At the time we thought we were doing the best thing, but now we realise they got too much and too things for granted. So be careful :)
I know it's not very girly, but Biro type wooden train sets are great for that age, and you, and everyone else, can add to it each Christmas and birthday. It does not have to be genuine Brio, Tesco, Sainsburys, ELC and Woolworths all do compatible items.

Get her a big box of collage stuff which you can work with her on (fluffy bright feathers, stickers, googly eyes, furry fabric, scissors, glitter etc) You will have great fun together and it will help her imagination and creativity. It's a really good bonding experience. Put it all in a nice box and make it look really special

Ask any sensible parent who has done it and watched their little darling change in to a teeny tiny hooker with a bad attitude.
Go for something that requires her to be actively involved in playing, something bright, cheerful, colourful, textured which will involve her physical skills (e.g. hand-eye coordination) as well as being creative (this will develop further as she gets older).
Toys don't have to be expensive to be enjoyable and have good play value. Things like Lego/Duplo/Sticklebricks can be used in different ways for many years.
Steer clear of anything electronic!
Children do not need to be spoilt to show you love them; having good quality play time with parents is important and develops good language and social skills.
You could buy her a fancy dress costume in princess she will love this at her age.Disney shop has those outfits and not to expensive.
Paints/paper/glue/glitter/playdough all from early learning centre at this age they love to explore different textures and colours.
