Verified answer

Religious people would think absurdists see futility when the obvious answer is reliance on God/Allah/Krishna/something to save one. Many, particularly Calvinists, might agree that it is impossible to find meaning with one's own human powers, but they would believe the answer is placed right in front of us as a free gift of grace from God.

I don't think absurdism is inconsistent with atheism: In fact, I suspect it would be difficult to be a true absurdist if one believed a supernatural, benevolent entity were out there to rescue weak humanity from its own inability. The distinction, if there is one, between absurdism and atheism is that the atheist may believe meaning, accomplishment and answers can be found in a godless world, while the absurdist must believe that is impossible.

In my reading about absurdism, it is specified that the absurdist does not necessarily believe that there are no answers, but merely that it is impossible to discover them with human powers. I wonder what we should call the belief that not only can we not find the answers but there are no answers - no meaning or connection between things. That may shade into nihilism, but if one insists that life should be lived as if there were meaning (although there is not) that seems to be existentialism!

When we decide to stop disapproving, the desire and the need to punish others becomes clearer. Of course, any one who gets "away with it" is usually a sign that you want them punished.
