William S and Juyvette, you mention teachers "brain washing" kids into thinking Obama is great and say that it's an unfair bias that those teachers do that. Well for every single teacher in the US who told their kids to vote Obama, there was an equal number of preachers/pastors/ministers who told their congregations to vote for Mccain, saying that god wanted him to win. What's worse? An authority figure telling kids not of a voting age that Obama is good or a religious authority figure telling adults to vote for Mccain or go to hell? Yeah Bias exists everywhere.

William S. seems to understand the reason for the bias. Politicians will always grease the palms of the people that fund their campaigns. For many years the democrat party has supported unions. Major news outlets and teachers usually belong to the unions that are busy greasing the palms of the politicians. My daughter has been indoctrinated at her school that Obama = great and McCain = Bush (who they also say is evil). They need to stick to teaching facts and keep their opinions to themselves as it relates to the class room.

If they wish to get involved with changing views they need to take it on after work.

With Obama being owned by unions how much of the bias being seen is because of the teachers union, my 7 year old came home from first grade one day telling me her teacher had told her class Obama was our only choice to vote for, needless to say we had a little talk with her teacher about campigning for anyone running for office. I don't know if this is happening in other schools but I would just about bet it is and trying to get this seven year old to understand a voter has to do research in order to make an informed dicision has been tough...it's like what this teacher told her has been burned into her mind. Her teacher had actually told her to go home and tell your parents to vote for Obama, I see this as brain washing.

Get out of the 60s. By and large, the UC Berkeley campus is quite conservative...with Greeks outnumbering Freaks by a wide margin.

Roughly 40% of the Cal (UCB) population is Asian-American, a group not noted for liberal tendencies.

EDIT: Yup, just another liberal, hippy retired Professor, who happens to be a Disabled Veteran, lifelong (pre-Reagan, classical) Republican, with short hair, who bathes twice daily, who wears button down shirts and still calls Crocodile shirts "Lacostes," who went to three conservative colleges, who worships the ground Buckley, Goldwater, and Dirksen walked on. Yeah, Yggdrasil is that kind of "blind liberal." When the current Republican party changes its symbol from the Swastika back to the Elephant, I will be a happy Republican again. Facts are always perceived as bias by the troglodytes who resist them.

Look, the reason there is a liberal bias in Universities.....the reason there is no intellectual base for the neo-Conservatives.....is because there really is NO intellectual base for the neo-Conservative movement.

It's a political base of radicals and corporate tools. It's the Republican party without thought, and right now it IS the Republican party.
