The engine had to be replaced in ours this week. We had only put under 4000 miles on it. The engine started knocking in it on the interstate. We've had a rental for over a week. The dealers said they hadn't seen a problem like ours. I know the vehicles are still new to the market being only two years old. I love mine but if it's going to be in the shop every other day I don't think I will keep it. I was just wondering if anyone else has had problems?
Update:My husband has a 75' Ford Bronco. The Patriot was for me and our baby. I liked the safety rating.
Update 3:We got the full bumper to bumper lifetime warranty. I just don't want it to be in the shop every week when I have to go to work and drop the baby off at daycare. I don't want to get into the whole jeep/ford argument. My husband picks on me enough as it is. I like them both. This one was suppost to be mine since my husband already has his vehicles. Sorry I posted twice. Thanks for all the feedback.

Unfurtunately it happened to you at an early phase! I have had jeeps for years and no bad problems... just regular check ups. Patriots look very nice and Not to be rude but is better that it happened now that you have your warranty and everything will be taking care of than for it to happen later years and you had to pay for all of it or trade it in, in a earlier time and loose money! These cars are just man made and you never know what can happen! But to tell you the truth I have had over 3 jeeps and still have them and no problem with mines! Good luck!
I fairly have a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo and that i like it. It has 121,000 miles. i've got have been given had to put in a sparkling transmission and replace some factors in each and every of the aptitude living house living house windows (they simply started out to bypass down and does no longer bypass back up). yet distinctive than that this is been an magnificent motor vehicle.
Could you have gotten a bad tank of gas?
We don't have a jeep, but we suddenly had a real bad knocking problem & our truck hardly had any power - also going down the interstate. We were out of state & started having problems about 30 minutes after we stopped for fuel. It was scary. It took almost 2 weeks for them to test & replace all of the valves in the engine, because the warranty wouldn't pay to fix it until the computer showed they went bad. Slowly, every single one of them did.
Getting up to 75000 miles on a '08 patriot. Had no issues through life until now. electrical short that keeps it from running. I have heard there is a bad connection somewhere, but electrical stuff usually costs a lot of money. other than that been great.
No, but I have had problems with my 08' Jeep Communist. It keeps trying to single-handedly overthrow the federal government. Should've bought a Ford.
Jeeps are among the most unreliable vehicles sold in this country. Their repair rate is much higher than most competitors. Maybe you should have checked this before buying one? Unfortunately, if you go to sell it, it has a terrible resale value as well. Sorry, better luck next time.
I've had mine since August and have over 5000 miles and so far haven't had any problems with mine. So far so good for me. I think your the first owner that I've heard of that's had to have a new engine put it.
yes, everytime i start it, a horse runs into me.
