I just turned my laptop on, and it doesnt load the log on screen. All it does is load the mouse, so I can move it about on a black screen, and thats about it... Ive tried entering safe mode & safe mode using command prompt, but neither work..
Is there any way for me to access the command prompt so that I can use system restore? Please help!!!
P.S. I didnt get a recovery CD for my laptop... so I cant go back to factory settings (which I would be willing to do). If it helps, my laptop is a Compaq Presario C500

Turn on the notebook and press f11 as soon as you see the Compaq logo to enter the recovery manager, follow the prompts, and run the recovery from the recovery partition.
In modern notebook computers, they no longer come with cds. You have to create them. Type in recovery manager into the start serach box on the start menu after you have run the recovery and you can create your recovery cds there.
