warning..lots of references to blood..for those who are squeamish..sorry x
okay, well, i have used a tampon twice before, each time only for about 10 minutes [while i was on my period] just to be sure i knew how to use them correctly.
anyway, yesterday was the second day of my cycle. before leaving for school, at about 8 in the morning, i put in a tampon. it felt fine and was perfect. so i walked to school as normal. i couldn't even feel it in me so i was fine.
however, about three hours later at school, i was sitting in class and felt noticeably wet down there. as i walked to my next class, i could definitely feel the tampon inside me unlike in the morning. when i finally got to the bathroom, blood had leaked into my panties and even onto my thighs. when i pulled out the tampon, it was fully absorbed in blood, even the string was covered in blood. so i put on a pad instead.
but i thought the whole point of the tampons were that they would absorb all the blood and i wouldn't have to worry about leaking?
what went wrong? i want to continue using them because they were way more comfortable than pads (at first).

If the tampon was fully saturated with blood, then you need to change your tampon more often or use a higher absorbency. The same thing would happen if you use too small of a pad - there are limits to how much each can hold and you just reached the limit of that particular tampon absorbency.
you just need a bigger one. once they are fully absorbed they can't just keeping taking more in. if you don't want to use a larger one just change the smaller one more frequently. also I ALWAYS wear a small panty liner when I use tampons. that way if it leaks like you had all I have to do is change the panty liner, not my unddies
tampons have to be changed every 2-4 hours. depending on the size and how much u bleed. so if you leaked after 3 hours try changing it every 2 hours or so... good luck!
well that's cuz ur flow was too heavy for that size of tampon...
if it gets full, it obviously can't absorb anymore so the blood just...comes out.
You had a heavy flow and used a lighter and smaller tampon. use medium or large.
A bigger sized tampon is needed, goodluck hun :) x
u just had a heavy flow instead of a lite one
