Usually they fall into the trap of being closed minded once the feel that all the new discoveries have been discovered. Whch is never the case because no one person could contain all the knowledge of the universe and there are always new discoveries to be made. So what are you thoughts do you think scientists should always keep an open mind?

That's their problem, they only believe in what they can touch and see.Sometimes you have to close your flesh eyes in order to see with your spiritual eyes. That's an ability that they obviously will never perfect.God must laugh at them when He watches them struggle to unravel the mysteries of His creation, and fail so miserably.I don't think they will ever all collectively agree on which came first "the chicken or the egg".LOL

Yr Q : [ Should Scientists still keep their minds open,

**Usually they fall into the trap of being closed minded once

A : [ See>>, Some chosen short words' ,as below ; ]
Hence;
See;
1)-***A good scientist is open to new ideas, if a strong
argument can be made for the change.
Once an idea is in place they start to build on it and make
new hypothesis on this knowledge so to change
the foundation often proves years of work wrong !.
2)-*** It is obviously clear, any good scientist will not
"fall into the trap of being close minded once they feel that all
the new discoveries have been discovered".
**It have been never heard; anyone think,
we know everything!.
**At the same time this does not mean, we should be giving
equal time, or effort to every claim!.
3)-***Absolutely. It's called critical thinking. If someone comes
up with a theory and have scientific evidence to back it up,
it would be insane to ignore it!.
**That's how progress is made in technology, psychology,
medicine, you name it !.
Otherwise, the world would still be flat, the sun revolves
around the earth,
and, we'd stuck in the stone age somewhere!.
4)-***A true scientist have a focused, non-critical, unbiased
and inventive mind.
**Prior to an invention, a scientist doesn’t
have any logic to prove it's work, but even then scientist is fully
dedicated and committed to it's work, which eventually
makes her/him successful.
**Scientist does beyond contradictions by accepting them,
as they are different perspectives of the same Truth.
5)-***Technically, that is the way science is supposed to be.
But, scientists are people and sometimes people get
close-minded.
**Sometimes people begin to slant things in their minds,
and their prejudice makes them biased !

I think you'll find any good scientist will not "fall into the trap of being close minded once they feel that all the new discoveries have been discovered". I've never heard anyone think we know everything.
At the same time this does not mean we should be giving equal time or effort to every claim. For example if people claim the moon is green cheese the knowledge and evidence we have should automatically rule that out as a logical claim worth investigating.
A good scientist is open to new ideas if a strong arguement can be made for the change. Once an idea is in place they start to build on it and make new hypothesis on this knowledge so to change the foundation often proves years of work wrong.
isn't an open mind the first requirement of being a scientist. i have never heard of a scientist saying 'i have found and figured out every problem the world had' there will never be a time that there want be new discoveries. maybe its you that needs to open your mind.
A true scientist have a focused, non-critical, unbiased and inventive mind. Prior to an invention, a scientist doesn’t have any logic to prove it's work, but even then scientist is fully dedicated and committed to it's work, which eventually makes her/him successful. Scientist does beyond contradictions by accepting them, as they are different perspectives of the same Truth.
Yes, I'm open minded. However, I do reject the theory of evolution. There are too many loopholes in the theory. As far as the age of the universe, it would be closed minded to say the universe is not billions of years old. The theory of evolution is closed minded to the fact that human beings have a spiritual side. Anybody who is rational, or logical knows mankind is spiritual. Spiritual things dominate mankind. Jesus Christ said happy is a person conscious of their spiritual need, since the Kingdom of the heavens belongs to them; Matthew 5:3. You don't have to have a degree from a university to understand mankind's spiritual side.
Absolutely. It's called critical thinking. If someone comes up with a theory and have scientific evidence to back it up, it would be insane to ignore it. That's how progress is made in technology, psychology, medicine, you name it.
Otherwise, the world would still be flat, the sun revolves around the earth, and we'd stuck in the stone age somewhere.
Technically, that is the way science is supposed to be. But, scientists are people and sometimes people get close-minded. Sometimes people begin to slant things in their minds and their prejudice makes them biased. I would think that objectivity is one of the hardest things to maintain.
