i am selling my brother my computer (1000w azza psu, gtx 570 HD gpu, amd athlon ii x4 965 BE cpu.) for a trade with cash, his pc and 200-400 (depends on the mood i am in lol) any way, i had help with this build and i dont know what psu i am going to be needing. i know the 1000w was complete over kill for that build and i did it on purpose because i didnt want to have to upgrade it again. would a 650 or a 500w psu be good enough for maybe a 700 series nvidia graphics card and the same cpu as my last build?

Go to www.thermaltake.outervision.com and enter all your system specs there and it will calculate how much of a power supply you need. Mind you, this number will be the minimum. You should get something bigger to allow for things like additional hard drives, another graphics card, system fans, etc. You really don't want to be over 90% of the power supply rating. Additionally, the power supply loses ability over time, so that after a year it might be down to 90-95%, etc. Finally, be sure to get an 80+ Bronze certified power supply. It will save you a lot on your electric bill.
a used pc with phenim II x4 + gtx570 is hardly worth $400, let alone something else with it XD
anyway, a good quality 650W (like corsair TX/HX series, or seasonic psus, or xfx) psu should be enough for any cpu and any single gpu configuration.
