itunes only recognized one device, I know some people have accidentally erased their music because of this. I use mediamonkey to manage my music files its free version is very functional and useful but if you can not do that, if you can't download it to your harddrive or a usb card, I would make sure all of my music is in a folder that itunes does not recognize, currently, uninstall itunes completely, reinstall it and synch it to the new ipod. You can only affiliate one ipod with an itunes program so do not hook that other to it. Really Media Monkey is better for managing your music, you can hook many up to it..
get a sparkling mac. once you're completed with setting up your ipod in the hot mac, drag the songs from the cd to ur itunes library, and then upload the songs that have been given into ur itunes library.basically click on the music and drag it to ur ipod this is put in on your laptop.
You should save all your songs to like a flash drive. By hilighting then coping and pasting every song into the usb's folder. (highlight 1 then press CLT and A to highlight all) Then plug the new iPod in and drag all the songs from the USB into the library.
