My boss tries to tell me what to do and I pretty much just brush it off. Don't get me wrong, I get things done, but I'm not going to vaccum the shop every single day, nor am I going to sit on my butt for 5 hours with nothing to do when I have a perfectly good computer I can be using all day.

I had a men's department manager at Mervyns who was like that. Fortunately she wasn't one of the store's main managers but she still tried to get me fired at least once. I worked starting with the holiday season and was going to stay at least 6 months. But cut it short and quit because of her and fortunately I can still say I worked the whole holiday season.

In this particular work environment, you have to be a female in her 40's to be treated good. If you're a young male, forget it. I tried to convey in misc conversation that although I'm a young male, I don't go around trying to dominate girls or get drunk or look for trouble. I live straight edge but many of them aren't familiar with the term. I've even said that I'm a feminist but that didn't seem to work. I was still discriminated againt.

I have had bosses that were the bane of my life but my present boss is an ok guy.
