Let me give you some concrete facts. The 2012 doomsday prophecy is based on the idea that because the 2000+ year old Mayan "long count" calendar comes to an end on Dec. 21st (the winter solstice), it means the world is ending. Nothing could be further from the truth. The Mayan calendar simply ends and starts counting over, just like our Gregorian calendar ends in December and starts counting again with January. There's no fundamental difference.
No doomsday. No end of world. No apocalypse. Business as usual, end of argument. The Mayans, in fact, did not leave behind any prophesies that we know of. None. Zero. They apparently couldn't even predict their own downfall over 1,000 years ago. Their ability to predict the future was no greater than your ability to predict the weather in Toledo on a specific day 100 years from now.
That said, the world ends for approximately 128,000 people every single day. It will not be substantially any different on Dec. 21st. With luck those 128,000 will include a lot of the idiots who spread fictitious doomsday prophesies for fun and profit. The world would be better off without such people.
Education and common sense. Get some. You'll probably lead a happier, more successful life if you do.
Why is this end of the world different from all the others?
The solar system passing through a "photon belt" near Alcyone? Good story, but photons do not form belts, Alcyone is moving away from us and it was all supposed to happen about 1958.
The return of Jesus, yet again? How many dates have been predicted for that in the past 2000 years?
Planet X which was supposed to be here in May 2003 having another go at us? Why can't we see planet X if it's less than two weeks away? Why could we not see it in 2003 when it was first supposed to be here?
Invasion of the annunaki from Nibiru looking for gold? Why can't we see Nibiru if it's les than two weeks away?
The rapture, yet again? How many dates have been predicted for that since it was invented in the 1830s?
All the planets in the solar system lining up, even though they cannot and will not, and doing . . . something, somehow? Must be magic because it sure will not be gravity. Wasn't that supposed to happen in 1999?
Solar flares, which happen around five times a week on a long term average.
Coronal mass ejections on the Sun which are fairly common - like the one on 14 July 2012 and a half dozen times since. Notice anything, did you?
A line up of the Sun and the Earth or something with the centre of the galaxy, which comes vaguely close twice every year is supposed to do . . . something? Must be magic because it sure will not be gravity.
The solar system crossing the central plane of the galaxy, when we don't actually know where that is?
Aliens invade (no, not the annunaki)?
Prophecies that the Maya didn't make will be fulfilled?
Prophecies that the old French faker Nostradamus didn't make will be fulfilled?
The entire thing is delusion, superstition and lies invented by the reality challenged and used by the ethically challenged to make money from the mentally challenged. Anyone who promotes it is a scum sucking bottom feeder.
First of all, get this. The world was supposed to end in 2000 which is called a y2k. Now did it really end? No. And particularly and most importantly, I highly doubt the world will end in 2012. If you watch the movie "2012", they created special effects in the movie to make it look real. Plus, the people who gave out theories in december 21, 2012 believing it is going to end that date say that just to make lots of money dependent on their freedom of speech. Nobody freaks out right now because the world isn't really going to end. And if it were going to end, people would freak out, move to a different place, end their lives, etc. So stay tight, have fun, the world will not end in 2012. End of discussion
Most likely not. Supposedly, scientists found out that any biblical reference to 2012 was interpreted incorrectly and even the Mayans in Mexico are claiming that the whole 2012 hype was a huge scam to increase the publicity of and income from the Mayan ruins there. There was also a claim that the world, according to the "2012" story, was supposed to end a while ago due to the fact that the Mayan calendar didn't include leap years. However, anything could happen. I for one believe that the world can end at any time, on any day, and we probably won't know when that will be. It could happen tomorrow for all we know.
It was supposed to happen early this month - the 5th from memory- when the Mayan calendar ended. The Mayans ended, so their calendar ended. Nothing too mystical there!
Belief in an end of the world Apocalypse/ Armaggedon prophecy is very common. Historically, the eve of a new millennium has always caused fear while the eve of a new century causes optimism.
Halley's Comet was always seen as an omen of massive change - including the end of life as we know it, for good or ill.
Fundamentalist Christians believe the Book of Revelations is prophecy and the Rapture will happen
Nostradamus has had his end of world prediction times and catalysts changed at least twice in my lifetime as far as I can remember. The first time it was supposed to be nuclear war between the US and USSR- I can't remember the year. Next time round, it was supposed to be war between Muslim Fundamentalists and everyone else. I think that's still current. Can't remember the year but I suspect it's changed few times.
My mother can remember that the end of the world was supposed to be between Asian communists and everyone else - the good old Yellow Peril/ Domino Effect fear.
The world will end when our sun goes super nova - but it's only middle aged right now so it's quite awhile off. An asteroid might take Earth out.
Green house; pollution; a super bug or virus - all kinds of things might take us out, hopefully without affecting too many other species. It's certainly true that our species extinction is the best break everything else could get! :) But that isn't the end of the world.
Relax and breathe. I'm willing to bet you that at any moment someone somewhere believes the world is gonna end next week or next year. It's bloody scary when it's your first one. I remember how badly that first Nostradamus TV special frightened me. I drove my mother nuts!
I've lived through a few of them now - 1999 was the last one. The Y2K hype.
Thank God I didn't hold my breath! Imagine how embarrassing it would have been explaining at the pearly gates of Heaven that I suicided by asphyxiation cos I held my breath waiting for the world to end: everyone would have laughed at me and I'd have had to wear a dunce's cap for Eternity. That would have sucked!
No but these are the end times. Some things need to happen before the end of the world as we know it and it will take longer than a couple of weeks (maybe 10-20 years in my opinion.)
No the world will not end on December 21, 2012 or so.
The the Mayan calendar does not really predicted the end of the world in 2012 on December 21. It is only indicated as being the end of a 13th major cycle and there are other dates mentioned beyond it. The notion of a "Great Cycle" coming to an end is completely a modern invention.
However we do seem to be in the end times period of history in this year of 2012. For example, Jesus predicted for the end times seem to be on the increase now such as false Christs, wars and rumors of wars, famines, earthquakes. (See Matthew Chapter 24) We are seeing more and more of these things and also unusual weather. Astronomers also predict possible huge solar storms out of the sun in 2013, which could disrupt satellites.
According to those who have studied Bible prophecy, we will experience a 7 year period called the Great Tribulation (before the 2nd coming of Christ) in which "the beast" or anti-Christ will rise up to rule the world. This world leader will bring in a cashless system in which no one can buy or sell without a mark on the right hand or forehead. This will most likely be a microchip implant with all financial information.
“It also forced all people, great and small, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads, so that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of its name. This calls for wisdom. Let the person who has insight calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man. That number is 666.” (Revelation 13:16-18)
There is now a big push towards one world government and the microchip implant technology. Politicians talk more about the need for global governance and a new world order. Microchips are now being used on around 8 million pets in the USA and are now being used on humans for medical ID and security. More systems are being set up to discourage and stop the use of cash.
When the microchip cashless system is fully put into place, do not receive the mark! All who get it will be condemned forever.
We could soon be catapulted into a worldwide government with a cashless system. When chaos occurs, people can get desperate and turn to powerful government control.
The US government now has over 16 trillion dollars in debt. There are over 600 trillion dollars worth of derivatives (bundled debts) circulating in the financial world and much of that is toxic A number of analysts are predicting 2012 or soon after to be a time of economic chaos. Gerald Celente of the Trends Institute says that in 2012 we will likely have an “economic 9/11”. This could be accompanied by war with Iran and/or collapse of the US dollar. There could be shortages of food and starvation in the USA.
While 2012 will not be the end of the world, we may see economic chaos and a march toward one world oppressive government. So we should prepare ourselves practically and also spiritually. Be ready to oppose this mark of the beast.
We have all broken Gods laws such as stealing, lying, pride, hatred, selfish ambition, and so on. We are all are guilty before God. Jesus paid the penalty for all our wrongdoings on the cross. People can receive forgiveness and eternal life only though receiving him as Lord and Savior. Those who do never have to fear death or the end of the world.
No! No! No ! Nooo! Well , it may , it can .. Bet NOBODY KNOWS FOR SURE! The Bibles states ONLY GOD KNOWS! No even the angles know! NOBODY! It can end right now for all I know!
