Is it possible to be allergic to the addatives they put in city water?
Everytime I take a shower I break out in a rash could I be allergic to the chlorine our water has a strong chlorine smell and what could I do about it?
Yes it is extremely possible to have a reaction to additives in city water. For instance in our area they add flouride to the drinking water which I am highly allergic too, and there is traces of lead in the water which really affects the condition of my skin.
If you are picking up a chlorine smell, then it sounds like your city is adding too much chlorine to the water. Let your local water department know. Also, make sure that if you have one of those automatic shower cleaners, that you let it rinse the shower completely before you get in the shower because cleaning chemicals when combined with shampoo can make a chlorinated smell that makes you nauseus. Anytime you clean your shower, make sure you rinse it throughly before you use the shower again.
You may be allergic to your soap, shampoo, or condition. Look for a shampoo and conditioner that is salicylate free. Look for soaps designed for sensitive skin. In all cases, look for fragrance free products.
YES IT MAYBE POSSIBLE TO HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE CHLORINE AND GET A REACTION. IF ITS THAT STRONG CALL YOUR PUBLIC WORKS IN YOUR AREA AND ASK THEM FOR THE NUMBER FOR YOUR WATER CO OR YOU MAY FIND IT ON YOUR WATER AND SEWER BILL IF YOU PAY FOR THIS SERVICE.IF YOU DONT PAY FOR IT GET THE NUMBER OF CO AND TELL THEM WHATS GOING ON AND ASK THEM TO TEST YOUR WATER THIS SHOULD BE DONE WITH NO COST TO YOU.2ND TRY CHANGING YOUR SOAP THAT YOU WASH WITH OUR BODYS CHANGE AND THE PH BALANCE AND IT COULD BE THE SOAP YOU USE ALL THE TIME. I HAD A PROBLEM WITH IRISH SPRING AND USED IT FOREVER BUT WHEN THIS HAPPENED I SWITCHED MY SOAP AND IT TOOK CARE OF MY PROBLEM.YOU CAN CHECK OUT ANY LOTIONS YOU MAY USE TOO. ALSO FOR THE RASH TRY A SOME A&D OINTMENT THAT MAY HELP WITH RASH. OR CORTIZONE 10 CREAM OR OINTMENT .THEY SEEM TO WORK WONDERS FOR THIS TYPE OF STUFF .IF THESE DONT SOLVE IT THAN GO SEE YOUR PRIMARY DR.IT VERY WELL COULD BE SOMETHING THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED WITH ANTIBIOTICS. BEST OF LUCK![HOPE FOR ALL 2006]

that is very possible
if you have been swimming and broke out in a rash/never been swimming before then it is highly possible that you are allergic to chlorine.
let water run for a bit see if it doesnt have a smell after a while.
