I have a new teacher for Technichal Graphics (aka Technichael Drawing).
He shouts at all of the students, and threatens us all the time. He even damages equipment when he's mad.
For example; A student spoke to the person beside them, so he gets the wooden T-Square, and smashes it off the desk. The whole thing split in half through the middle. He then said, "Next time, I won't be the desk, it'll be you!"
Is this illegal for a teacher to do?
Update:It gets so bad, that some students end up crying. We're 15 & 16 year old boys.

I'm not a lawyer or police officer, but that is definitely illegal! Please talk with your parents about the situation. It may be even more helpful for your other classmates and their parents to bring the situation to the attention of the principal, too, as there tends to be "strength in numbers". Please do talk with your parents about it since it is inappropriate behavior on the teacher's part, to say the least. I would NOT confront the teacher yourself though.
Just to add that I agree with the other postees about keeping records of the incidents that occur in class and the dates and times of the events. That can keep the situations more clear in one's mind, too.
You and your parents should lodge a complaint with the principal about these actions by the teacher. They are inappropriate though probably not illegal.
As to the suggestion of trying to catch him in the act with your cell phone, you would probably get in trouble for having the cell phone. So I would not recommend that.
As to the suggestions of ganging up on the teacher or going en masse to the school board or such, I would not recommend that either. While it might make you feel good to have "strength in numbers", it is not the prescribed method of dealing with this kind of misconduct. Such actions are frowned upon by school administrators for good, sound reasons too numerous to explain here. Don't do it.
For one thing, if you do one of these knee-jerk types of responses, you will only prove that you are as out of control as the teacher you are trying to report.
A complaint filed with the administration by you and your parents is the appropriate method for handling this concern. That's what you should do.
Don't worry about if it is illegal or not. It IS definitely inappropriate behavior for a teacher. I suggest you "document" if with a cell phone video or some kind of proof, then take it to the principal. The teacher may not be fired, but should definitely be reprimanded and straighten out his behavior. If going to the principal doesn't work, I suggest getting all of the parents of the students in this class involved and having the parents go to the school board. They should definitely be able to take some action to change things for the better.
A threat is a warning or indication of probable harm, what she said is not probable harm, while she can ask the other guy to shoot you with a bow and arrow, he might simply say no, also ripping off a head is very difficult so that too is not probable harm
Threatening students? Yeah I'd say so.
Talk to the principal about this. If he has tenure it may be hard to remove him or fire him, but I would either see the superintendent or see the principal. Educational experiences should not involve threats...
Hope this helps!
Most probably. A teacher is there to teach, not threaten. You should report them to a higher member of staff.
Yeah catch him threatening you guys on a cell phone. He can get in trouble (I don't know how much) for threatening to harm people.
By the way, can all who see this, come to my question, and help report tony, and cathrl69 for SPAMMING my question.

Technically, it's not legal for anyone to threaten anyone with violence or bodily harm. This teacher has some issues he needs to work with.
Perfectly natural.
