This is an astronomical and geophysical question. Those who are saying: the dark side would get really cold and the light side would get really hot (rather like Mercury), that is correct. Weather patterns as we know them would cease to exist. No more Coriolis force.

big trouble if world stopped spinning everything on it would be sucked into space and the planet would become barren
