Have to agree with you. Circumcision began as a religious practice, and seems now to be just a cultural thing. We didn't circumcise our son, and most of our friends didn't either. In fact, the doctors that cared for me throughout my pregnancy won't even do circumcisions, and our health care system wouldn't pay to have it done. It's unnecessary and painful to your baby. I figure the human body is pretty amazing, and if that extra skin wasn't beneficial for some reason, evolution would have gotten rid of it by now. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
I'm 30 years historical and I am no longer circumcised (nor have I ever desired to be). I could no longer have my boys circumcised considering that there's no scientific rationale to do that and in the event that they desire to be circumcised they may be able to regularly select that after they're historical sufficient. It's their frame, no longer mine and I uncover it not likely that they could desire to have facet in their dick reduce off simply considering that plenty of different humans do. Unless it is facet of your faith, circumcision relatively makes no when you consider that. Any dad or mum that could drive a surgical procedure on a baby considering that they believe it appears gross is a terrible individual, interval! It's no longer their correct to make a decision how any individual elses "personal constituents" will have to appear and just a very superficial ignorant individual could select to do whatever like that as a result.
To circumcise as a matter of hygiene is a nonsense. Most European boys are not circumcised and manage to clean themselves - it is just a matter of education and establishing cleaning routines. Unclean teeth may cause gum infections - would anyone suggest to pull out the teeth?
The foreskin is a natural part of your son's anatomy and should be left as such and unless there are exceptional medical circumstances there is no justification in removing it. A new born baby has rights - the right to his complete body. When he is older he can make a decision for himself.
Every national medical association in the western world says that there is no medical reason to circumcise. Don't take my word for it - look it up.
Add to that that the operation is painful, irreversible, removes a healthy body part, and is performed on a non-consenting patient, and it becomes clear that circumcision is not ethical.
This is just a personal choice - every male is not circumcised. Think about it, read about it etc. I think the biggest deal is just pulling back the extra skin and keeping it clean, but women do that every day! I personally chose to have my son circumcised, but it was an actual cutting of skin (with no big healing problem), not that clamp deal that most doctors use now.
It is pointless. It is big money for Doctors and they take advantage of those who are not knowledgeable. Many children die in what they call a simple procedure. I don't like the excuse either of getting it done when there are young so they dont remember. That doesnt take away the pain. Ask a grown man who has had the procedure done and then ask if they think a child should go through it. Religion is the main reason it is done today but other than that there is no other reason but greed. By the way I am uncut.
I'm really just writing in response to the girl who said that women don't find it attractive - that is absolutely not true. My husband is not circumcised and it's what I would prefer anyway.
I have read a few articles about this matter and it seems that circumcising is really just an outdated religious practice. The studies that were done that linked cancer to uncircumcised penises turned out to be flawed. If I ever have a son, I'm not going to get it done. It's needless pain for the baby. Just teach him to clean it right.
At this point in time circumcising a boy is up to the parents of that child. If you are really sure that you do not want to have it done then that is for you to decide and no one with a list of pros and cons will change your mind.
I personally had my son circumcised for personal family reasons and my son and I are both happy with the results. If the next baby is a boy it will be the same.
It's not medically necessary, and outside of the US, it's looked at as barbaric.
My boys are intact, and just fine :) I believe that as we become more civilized as a nation, it will be completely phased out (as it has been in most of Europe).
There is no medical reason to do it. The minimal benefits do not outweight the risks. Women are at a much much higher risk for contracting STDs, yeast infections, UTIs, etc. Instead of surgery, we take antibiotics, nystatin, or use condoms. I'm not sure why boys aren't protected as we are.
It's certainly a personal choice for you. As for valid medical reasons, however, a recent large-scale study shows that circumcising males drastically cuts the AIDS/HIV transmission rate.
Whoever gave me the thumbs down because the results of a very large scale scientific experiment fracture your little personal reality, get a life. I'm not recommending circumcision, just pointing out there are proven medical benefits.
