Goering was the most popular Nazi leader with the German public. He was called "Our Hermann." Unlike other Nazi leaders Goering was seen as a jolly good fellow which resonated with the common German. As a leader of the economic four year plan and head of the German Air force he was a failure. As the National Forest Master (roughly the supreme park ranger and animal warden) he did much better in creating and expanding Germany's wildlife preserves.
Goering was head of the luftwaffe. The air force. He actually flew fighters in WWI. Also very close with Hitler. The German people would have seen Goering as a huge hero.....Until things got very bad.
he was pretty good at organising things. Among other, he succeeded in "capturing" Prussia for the Nazis (by elections) and quickly instituted a power grab
Among other things he organised the Stutthof concentration camp- for political opponents first and Jews later (that was the camp which made soap from human remains)
He also organised the political takeover of the Free City of Dantzig (Gdansk) and Memel (Lithuania) paving the way for their nnexation by Germany
