It's easy to just yank a credit card or close an account. However, this is your husband we're talking about. It's always been my belief that communication and compromise is key. You guys need to sit down and write out a budget. Give him a certain amount to spend every month and a hobby to keep him busy. Being without a job can get very depressing for some people so they go out and spend money to feel better or to pass the time. This is not good and it will get you into a big pickle if you're late on your bills. Is he out of a job for a reason? If not and you guys are struggling, you may consider helping him find a job to help contribute to the family income. Good luck.

I'll tell you this I have had this problem in the past with my wife and the best thing we did was we still have a joint account but she holds onto the ATM card so I do not spend all the money anyways this may work ifhe goes to the bank though I would recommend getting another account for your money and maybe give him a allowance other then that it goes towards food and bills period. I would also tell him to return the T.V. before you consider divorce it would be fine if he was making the money to afford that expense but he isn't so tell him to return the TV because we need food in the f u c king house and stop spending money on sh it we can't afford if this doesn't ring any bells then I do not know what you can do he sounds like a big kid most of us guys are but he needs to realize whats important and whats useless.

Demand that he only uses the card for emergencies or take it from him. Pay the bills first RIGHT when the money comes in. Put the rest in savings so he can't use it until he realizes it. Give him cash every week to spend on food like 20 or 30 dollars because chances are, he just likes buying things. Give him the cash, when he's out, he's out and he will be glad you paid the bills first. Try and prepare more meals for him if he's close by during work or take him lunch. First, open a new checking account in your name only, if you have a joint account write a check to transfer the money to yours. Get the credit cards and destroy and close the account, it looks better when you close the accounts. Just keep one or two open and don't charge any more than you can pay off in two payments. Sooner or later he will get the idea, as a last resort, shoot him [only kidding]

If you're the one making the money, cut off the purse strings. Get his credit and debit cards cancelled, and change the pin number on the ATM card. Then he'll only have his unemployment check to spend! You have to put your foot down and limit his spending!
