The default IP should be 192.168.1.254. But if that is not working then: try using the IP address of the gateway your computer is using. The gateway should be your router.
On windows XP, right click on network icon by the time and go to Status. Then click view details
On vista you go to Network and Sharing Center, and from there click the status link. Then click view details
Reset your hub to its factory settings by pushing the recessed reset button on the side of your hub with a straightened-out paper-clip (full instructions on page 61 of your BT Total Broadband User Guide) Now look at the label on the back of your Home-Hub with a magnifying glass. The default admin password is the third number down on the label but examine each number and letter carefully. Some characters are easily confused if there are marks or scratches on the label for instance capital G/capital C, capital I/capital L, capital I/figure 1. Write the password clearly on a piece of paper and remember IT IS CASE SENSITIVE. There are no spaces in the password. Go back to your "quick start" guide and set the hub up again, from scratch. If there is a character in the password that you are not 100% certain of, try the alternative possibility. If this does not work, try the BT helpdesk. It is possible that your hub is faulty but they will be able to check this for you if you have internet access (Use a wired connection as a temporary fix).
