Yes, I think they very likely do exist. My brother and I are both scientists who have been studying this as a hobby for over 20 years. We even had what we believe was an encounter very near the Patterson/Gimlin film site(stabilized below). It was the most frightening experience of both our lives.
The subject of the Patterson film is most likely an authentic sasquatch. While studying the walk of the subject, I stabilized the video and came to the conclusion that it was very unlikely to be a person in a suit. There were some very credible sightings before that in the area and there were casts and film made of the footprints. It was examined by expert trackers. The cast of the tracks matches the only clear frame of the bottom of her foot and that makes a good ruler to measure her by. There is a high likelihood, based on using her foot as a ruler and other evidence, that she is slightly over 6' tall without correcting her posture.
I included a link to the stabilized version and a comparison with a very large man (Charles Barkley) to give a more realistic impression of her actual size. That would have to be one incredible suit as I don't see how it could be just a man with a mask. It is just easier for me to believe it is real.
I think it is a hominid species that learned to survive by hiding from humans and our ancestors. It could be a cold adapted decedent of one of the primitive erectus and may have taken to being mostly nocturnal and living in very steep mountains or swamps to avoid more aggressive hominids like modern humans. It may be descended from the robust australopithicus. Gigantopithicus is also a popular candidate based on size and the fact that it lived until fairly recently.
Many believe that a hoaxer came forward and that disproves this. That is simply not true. There were hoaxers but never a credible account or anything about the film that points to a hoax. It is still just opinion as there is no irrefutable scientific evidence.
Could be but, can't justify it. I am open to the idea of a undiscovered ape. Do I think it's supernatural? Nope...
Not enouth evidence to rule one way or another to me.
It would not be odd for it to be a hoax. Yet, many native american folktales describe such things and they have been spoted all around the U.S. before the bigfoot craze.
Nice to dream I guess. I just don't want to see such a thing in the wild. I have enouth problems with bugs that sneak in as it is.
I am pretty sure he is hiding in the land of lost socks, along with Elvis, Curt Cobain, and Tupac Shakur cutting a new album.......soon to be released.
But seriously, the government can tell me within a fraction of an inch the specific spinach plant where my e-coli came from, the FDA can tell me the exact stall where the cow lived that my steak came from, and google earth has a satelite picture of me tanning in my back yard......I think by now an 8 foot guy with a big hairy *** would have been caught by something more than a camera.
My answer would have to be that I do not disbelieve. I have heard pros and cons all of my life but when it has come down for centuries in Native American lore it does make one wonder!

And no.. I was not the date mentioned earlier.
My son's roommate is bigfoot. Huge feet, messy. Nice though.
Sadly yes. Dated him.
Huge feet. Stinky. Hairy. Ate a lot of cheeseburgers. Commitment issues.
