I watched your link that team does not seem very elite to be honest so you shouldn't worry about making the team lol
Toe touches are probably the easiest aspet of poms... it is a straddle in the air. I got mine down in like a week. Stretch every day if you cant do the splits.
On a separate note. I really want you to be trying out for the right reasons. We had some girls walk on the team this past year and it ultimately hurt us and embarrassed them because they didnt know what they were doing. If you have never danced before, cant do a toe touch or even turns, you better be able to shake it!
As for try outs, smile AT ALL TIMES, and be sharp with your movements. That is what really gets attention. Like the video I linked at the top, our girls are all super sharp and it looked good hua? Just believe in yourself if this is what you REALLY want and it will be yours.
Girls on the outside never know what they are getting themselves into. It is a lot of work, but it pays off and placing at competitions is one of the best feelings in the world. It also comes with a lot of bad. Im actually quitting the team because of some of the girls that just walked on. As someone who really cared about the team it was just so hard to watch these girls who honestly could care less shove it down the drain. If you really, really want to be apart of it... just have the dedication. Poms is life to any real pom.
Good luck sweetie you can e-mail me if you have any other questions on techniques or stretches via [email protected]
well it looks like its primarily hip hop so i would take a hip hop class just to learn some basics and maybe a jazz class
