Bedbugs are generally active only at night, with a peak attack period about an hour before dawn, though given the opportunity, they may attempt to feed at other times of day. Attracted by warmth and the presence of carbon dioxide, the bug pierces the skin of its host with two hollow tubes. With one tube it injects its saliva, which contains anticoagulants and anesthetics, while with the other it withdraws the blood of its host. After feeding for about five minutes, the bug returns to its hiding place. The bites cannot usually be felt until some minutes or hours later, as a dermatological reaction to the injected agents. Although bedbugs can live for a year or as much as 18 months without feeding, they typically seek blood every five to ten days. Low infestations may be difficult to detect, and it is not unusual for the victim not to even realize they have bedbugs early on. Patterns of two or three or four bites in a row or a cluster are typical as they may be disturbed while feeding. Bites may be found in a variety of places on the body, but the lower limbs are a favoured location.
Bed bugs are very hard to get rid of, you usually have to throw out the furniture they have infested and have your place exterminated twice to be sure to get the remaining bedbugs. I don't know why you couldn't catch them from another person if you were in close contact with their clothing. If you put alcohol and water in a spray bottle you can spray your carpet and things to help kill eggs but you seriously need to have your place exterminated to get rid of them. In the last few years there as been a new outbreak of bed bugs spreading across the country. One woman in New York successfully sued the apartment building she lived in because after she moved in she soon realized the prior tenant had left bedbugs in the carpet, etc. All of her expensive furniture became contaminated and she had to stay at a hotel until she found another apartment. The court awarded her a large settlement.
From what I've read it's more from thing to thing. I read recently of a mother who had visited her son. His home was infested with bed bugs. Her suitcase laid against his bed and the bugs jumped onto her suitcase and traveled home with her, thus infesting her house with the bugs. They don't really live on people so I don't think it's like lice, more things made of cloth, I think.
I have a friend and she has bed bug bites all over her and she rides in my car and I take her to work and she is visiting our house. Should I be worried on bringing them in.
Once you have a bedbug it is yours for life. The bedbug imprints itself with your DNA and reproduces using one strand of your double helix. Future generations of bedbugs will ONLY be able to live in or around the beds of you or your descendants.
My guess would be probably yes. BUT I have to say, your first answer....they are either drunk or 4 yrs old -- check out the spelling!!
Reason I say probably yes is because if you research even crabs caused from sexualy activity -- really reserach it -- you can even get them from other ways -- toilet seats even -- truth.

I was just talking with someone about bed bugs. He said they can be, that the eggs can be on peoples clothes.
we just bombed our house because I thought we had fleas but this morning I found 3 dead
bed bugs...ugh. I was wondering if my dog is infested with them. She has been scratching
herself nonstop and has a very expensive flea collar. My question is "does a person or pet
transfer these bed bugs from room to room. My bedroom is really bad but now my daughter
is getting bitten all night long.
