Historically, mixed women were labeled as Black and only now are they asserting their mixed heritage. Vanessa Williams has 2 Black parents.
I mean it's more so sad when the person is well in fact black, and feels disgraced to acknowledge it. Like Tiger Woods? We all understand that you are not all black, but if someone calls him black instead of saying I'm black, and white, and Asian. He prefers to get a Lil ticked off about it and say No Im not black. I thought this question was referring to how society when they use a token black women, or try to justify blacks being attractive they always use the mixed ones. ie: Halle Berry (black and white) Beyonce (black and creole) or Vanessa Williams (who most whites think is biracial because of her fair skin) I'm happy that some people like being black. It's fine. I mean those women date black men, so it's not like a ploy. Or a joke.
It can get annoying when they say they're black to have their ways with blacks, and then say they're mixed when they're around whites because whites wouldn't allow them to call themselves white. Mixed people these days only acknowledge the fact that they're mixed anyway unless they want a black scholarship or want to be starred in black movies until they get more mainstream roles aka halle berry.
No, I could care less. I don't know any mixed people that call themselves black.
They always have to make sure everyone knows that they aren't fully black.
I'm white, and even I'm sick of it. If you're mixed, you're mixed. Deal with it. Stop trying to pick a side.
no cause most black americans are mixed but call themselves black anyways....
I'm tired of some black women, notice how I did not generalize, calling mulatta and multiracial women black when we've corrected them more than once.
Vanessa Williams has 2 black parents
but anyway..yes people with 1 parent who isn't black shouldn't consider themselves black..unless they can relate to being black..
in other words..if they promote interracial relations for blacks..they are mixed in my book
because a true person that loves being black wouldn't have a desire to date non-blacks(even if they are not full black themselves)
that is just 1 of the many reasons why i wouldn't consider them black
If they were born after 1960s they are mixed in my eyes..
because mixed blacks born before then KNEW they were black..they NEVER acknowledged mixed heritage..there were probably more mixed blacks back before 1960s than their are now TBH
Don't care.
They can call themselves what they want.
Most African Americans are mixed with white or native, sorry to burst your bubble.
