Bipolar and working as a counselor?
Hi,
I am 29 years old and suffer from bipolar.
I'm planning on taking a counseling course in September. Can people with such problems go ahead and seek a career in the mental health sector if they too are seeking help from it?

yes you can, if you suffer from bi-polar, then I think it could be beneficial to a client, because you will have some of the same issues, and maybe you all can relate with each other. I think this is a good idea, and I think you should go for it!
Absolutely!! Look up Kay Jamison. She is Bipolar 1 (complete with psychosis) and she is a psychologist who has written a number of books about Bipolar and even wrote an autobiography "An unquiet mind". It's a must read for anyone who is Bipolar. You can be anything you want to be.
