Mailed my claim form as usual on 4/4/2010. Still nothing. It's 4/19/2010. They say to wait 10 days before contacting anyone. Of course it is impossible to get through on the phone lines. I sent 2 email correspondences, one on the 13th and one on the 16th. On my second extension that still has a balance.
Read that the Senate was on recess the last two weeks of March and that they just voted on an unemployment bill this April 15th to extend benefits.
The article also said "An earlier bill allowing the unemployed to move into the next tier of benefits lapsed April 5 after the Senate failed to pass an extension before they left on Easter recess."
But why should this interrupt my check while in the middle of an extension?

I'm in CA and have continued to receive my checks with no problem. It is important to call in if you don't receive the benefits. It might take a couple of hours to reach a person, but they will have all the information on their computer and tell you exactly what's happening.
Do NOT wait. Following is a link to a question I answered a while ago about reaching CA EDD by phone.

It's delivered by the Post Office. Maybe you'll get it tomorrow. Just remember, the PO is thinking of cancelling Saturday deliveries to save money. In the future, you might not get it until Monday. Just hang in, it will show up.
