I'm making a music video for my vacation in japan, and in the end credits I wish to include "In Memory of ________ KIA Afghanistan August ____ ." But it is completely unrelated. I don't know whether that's okay or not. I know it's not disrespectful per say, but it's maybe not a good idea to include it? I knew him and we went to basic training together. What is your opinion on this? Basically it just seems really out of place, especially since it's a music video and it has nothing to do with this soldier at all.

You can dedicate a work of literature or art to anyone, regardless of whether it has anything to do with them or not. The only question, really, is whether this person would want to be associated with it.
Anytime a soldier is honored it's appropriate and thoughtful. I think it's a wonderful idea.
If you feel strongly about it, then you should to it. If you can, maybe run it by his family. I agree, its one of those things that you're not quite sure about.
