If the definition of scientism is "empirical science constitutes the most authoritative worldview or most valuable part of human learning to the exclusion of other viewpoints." why would you choose science?

Nice quote from wikipedia you have there.
I accept that science is the interpretation of what we know about the universe that is backed by most to all of the evidence on hand. I eagerly await better, more complete ideas.
Well.....we'd like to live in the real world.
And your definition is crap. Scientific method starts with evidence and draws conclusions from there. If you start with a conclusion, you ain't looking at what is true.
Your problem is you have your conclusion, but you aren't finding the evidence to start with. So you are hoping for a good way around it.
Why would you choose the thing that is responsible for literally everything you own, eat, and drink? Why do we have clean drinking water, because scientists found a way to clean it. How do we have homes? Because scientists figured out how to make building materials. How has our life span increased several fold? Because scientists figured out how to make medicines. Science, it works bitches.
Wat. Science and religion can coexist (in the sense that it's possible), but usually science conflicts with religion and as such, religious people protest it. Those of us who choose science over religion mean we don't want the umbrella called "religion" to shelter us from the reality that's raining down every day.
Your definition of scientism is acccurate, but science is not scientism.
Well, I wouldn't. IF that was the definition of science. But it isn't, so no problem.
Are you on the internet via a computer or are you praying the words here?
Science is simple observation and recording.
Because your little quote is incorrect.
It's simply choosing reallity over fantasy.
Because other viewpoints are wrong....provably so.
