The day starts at 0dark30. They will feed you at the hotel and provide you with transportation to the MEPS. Once you arrive at the MEPS you will pass through metal dectors(its a federal bld so no weapons) then typically you will have a morning brief. A guy will come in and tell everyone the rules of the day. Normally they are no profanity, no sexual harrassment, that kind of common sense stuff. From there they will send everyone to to office of the branch they are processing for. In the office you will sign for your lunch and get a sticker and then head to the medical section. once you are in the med side you will have another brief. this time one of the medical personel will tell you that there is a waiver for everything and your recruiter is the devil and you need to tell him everything becuase he is your friend. Next he will have you fill out a form going over the same medical questions you go over with your recruiter before you go to meps. Next you take a breathalizer to make sure you arent drunk. then the test your blood pressure temp and pulse to make sure you arent sick. After that you go to various stations at one the test vision, hearing, draw blood( looking for Blood born stuff like HIV) pee in a cup, and then you will go into a room with everyone of the same gender as you. There you will strip down to your underwear and do a ht wt check. next for those that require it they will do a tape test to determin body fat followed by a series of mobility exercise to ensure that your joins all work. After that you will one at a timme see the Doc. Once back with the doc he will ask a couple questions. The first is do you have any tats or identifying marks( scars over an inch long), then they ask about drug and alcohol usage( when, how often, how much, ect) and finally any counseling you may have attended. After that the guys get to turn your head and cough and the girls get a modified pelvic exam( theyll look but not touch) once this is complete you will get dressed and go see your miliary office. That is a run down of a day at the MEPS
1. depending on if you took the asvab or not, you will have to take it not.
that will be after the breathalyzer, you will be divided into two that either goes right away to the medical parts or take asvab.
if you did not take asvab yet, then it will be roughly 3 hours of asvab in this cold room with computer that makes you press a,b,c,d,e that's it
2. after you get all your medical physical stuff done, you will turn it in to the medical front desk. in which you will proceed in either getting lunch or whatnot. after that you will be getting your paper go to the branch office, turn it in.
3. you will have to wait while the branch will get the paper works done, you will meet up with your job classifier [that is if you got all the paper work done and if everything checks out, i know a person who was down there for like 5 days ] you choose job etc etc
4. you will be going back to front desk, read folder regarding homosexual stuff turn folder back, go back to your branch
5. you will have to go through interview and fingerprinting to make sure you check out as who you are.
6. you wait even more
7. you will be sworn in by general.
that is if your branch isn't busy, i know a person who actually finished the day of..
usually it will take two days since it takes long time and waiting
[but i guess that depends on which branch and where the meps are located at]
wishing you the luck.
p.s. i had everything done the day before except for the job classifying stuff so i had to stay back at hotel they assign you [in which case you have brief at 820pm and wake up check out by 420am and eat breakfast (they do give you some kind of dinner)] so next day i just went back for job, fingerprinting and swearing in but i wish you would finish in one day, it's exhausting and tests your patience
The hotel is a comfortable place but the food is nasty...and be prepared to stay at Meps all day...dont do nothing stupid...if u smoke dont do it no time soon...and jus make sure u pass everything and u will be good
My son just went Friday. He said the first hour was briefing, ie..no lying, answer truthfully and such. He arrived at 7am and was done by 11am. It was a small group. Height, weight, temp, BP,eyes, ears, hernia check, scoliosis (curvature of the spine), which means bending over in your boxers. Urine test, blood draw for HIV. A typical physical. He did say the people were not very friendly and no small talk involved.
Your recruiter desires to get in there to ensure they have them. if not, they might postpone your processing. Like somebody else suggested, convey a replica to be on the secure factor. Then flow and ask your recruiter why you're doing his artwork.??? as quickly as at MEPS, it takes the medical team time to study all the data, so in case you deliver them in in the previous you get there the provider might desire to have already submitted them for a Med study. better of success
yea that 1st answer had it down..(SteveR i think it was) and someone said something about the asvab taking about 3hours...hmmm well not for me..i on a Wedsday ..got to MEPS at around 430pm started the test about 5:00pm and was at the hotel by 6:30pm.....it took me about 45 min to do it ....and then i went back for the physical the next day (and yes 4am is when we had to get up .....dont fret...it may take long but its not hard ..it just takes a while
First this should be answered by recruiter, ask your recruiter about this. Look Just Go there don't be nervous, calm down everything will be OK it is not hard. There will be several medical examinations like the first answered wrote (very detailed), just be yourself and behave good and follow directions, and everything will go OK, be prepared to spend whole day
