Why does Obama get so much credit for saying troops should be in Afghanistan instead of Iraq?
it's the same position he's held for the last 5 years and only just recently has it become correct. all it means is that the dice finally rolled in his favor. by the way this article was written by the AP. he wouldn't allow Fox to go with him.

Quite right, you shouldn't credit a clock for being right twice a day.
He should be lambasted for opposing the surge that made this possible, but that is apparently too much to ask. Given he said it would make matters worse, and it fixed the problem, there's no way that his judgment is worth a dam on these matters.
