Yes, the thing that drives me crazy like you said is when someone sees a turtle crossing the road and claim to rescue it, and then they come on here asking how to take care of it without even knowing what species of turtle it is. Another thing I can't stand is people who catch large numbers of reptiles to sell. That is why I support captive breeding and will never sell or buy a wild caught reptile. And with kids catching snakes, too often they ask what to feed it and people give the wrong answers. And many of these kids are too stubborn to let it go. Instead, they just allow it to die and then go out and catch another one which will suffer the same fate. What a shame!
There is a lot of answers for this question... It may be a herpetologist who is collecting a certain species to get an anti-venom for someone who has got bitten by a venomous snake, it can also be for the animals own welfare... You have to be a bit more specific... Do you mean "Why do people collect animals from the wild and let them suffer/die?
Well all pet animals were wild some generations ago but as far as the cruel little boy or ditsy teenage girl who claims that is just wrong and there's nothing you or I can do to it
It's cheaper than buying captive bred. Sometimes they just want a pet, and it's cheaper than buying one. Or sometimes they catch them and sell them, 100% profit there
