In light of the senseless killing of the Australian student in Oklahoma, most of us feel the same way about the morons that committed the crime. They should get maximum punishment. But why are black Americans blamed for the lack of media coverage of this tragic event. I have read numerous responses to articles that are covering this and a number of the responses compare this to the Trayvon Martin case. Most vent ranting anger blaming the lack of coverage on Blacks. Often saying that if things were reversed and the victim was black it would be all over the news. That's not our fault. There is no major media source in this country run by blacks, geared towards blacks, most have very few black journalist or news directors. All the major media operations are owned, operated, and controlled by white males. So why is the anger about the lack of coverage about this killing vented at Blacks?

This is not answer your question but...
I feel like the reason trayvon Martin had so much media coverage is because black people stand up and speak out more about things that they feel is not right. I'm pretty sure if white people did the same thing they will get the same media coverage. I think most white people were mad because of how black people reacted to trayvon Martin being killed. In there eyes blacks wouldn't have made a big of a deal if trayvon was white and Zimmerman was black. Which I myself believe is true. But it's up to them to stand up to something that they feel is not right. They have a voice just like us they just need to speak louder.
Although racism in America has gone down tremendously over the last century, it can still be seen today. A majority of the black population often live in low income and 'ghettos' as some would call. Still though, some people still dislike blacks. But during that effect another reverse effect has appeared. People often, when they see a black they would think would be innocent they want to stand up for them more, knowing how America was in the past.
This leads other people to see it more as an equality thing. People now seem to think that being a past or a current minority would get you more attention. White Americans are mad at the Black Americans for this because now that blacks are seen still sometimes as a minority, may be more touching to society to see a young black innocent boy who was born in a low income place die and meet the tragedy that was very possible from the day he was born. People think this is more tragic than a white middle class student who most of the time was out of harms way.
Killing is sad and wrong either way. But that's my take on it, maybe it's not agreeable.
Same reason why blacks are angry at whites for trayvon Martin.
Thought I do Agree with those comments, The event would receive more coverage if the roles were reverse.
