This happened on comment threads of articles about the Catholic Church.
On November 12 and 13, 2011 comments favorable to Catholic belief were disappearing, often after they had received replies and/or thumbs up or down. Comments criticizing, ridiculing and vilifying Catholicism were unaffected. This is a form of censorship, and a violation of freedom of speech. It is also an instance of bigotry. Who is responsible? See http://news.yahoo.com/catholic-bishops-prepare-rel... .
Update:Please click on the link to the news story if you'd like to see how one-sided the discussion is with all the pro-Catholic comments removed.
Update 3:This abuse is ongoing at the very moment I am updating this! I just made a comment on one of Yahoo's stories about the Catholic Diocese of Orange's offer to buy the Crystal Cathedral, and it is already gone. It was the fourth comment at the time I posted it. Yahoo, you must clean up your act!
Update 5:It's STILL happening. Yahoo removed 6 of my comments, all made in the last hour, on this story: http://news.yahoo.com/catholic-diocese-ups-offer-c... .

It is strange that there weren't any pro-Catholic comments. Among the comments that are there, there are suggestions to bomb the Vatican, for Catholics to leave America and create another country, to "chop the horns off" and hang the "nazi pope" by his "tail" behind a woodshed, that intolerance of Christianity is a good thing, that "all religions must go", that the Catholic Church is a "threat to democracy" (Catholic Americans shouldn't have the right to participate in the democratic process, apparently), that the Catholic Church is "Satan worship", "Roman" (dun dunn dunn), "Pagan", supports fascist regimes, and, lest it be forgotten, the pope is a Nazi and priests are dangerous pedophiles.
Very nice. If these sorts of comments don't violate commenting guidelines, then I'd hate to see what the pro-Catholic comments contained if they did violate commenting guidelines.
I've seen plenty of pro-Catholic posts. I've also seen a few posters who post frequently and sometimes violate the comment terms, not in all posts but in several. One of their posts might be fine, but another 3 violate a rule, so after so many violations, the commenter is removed completely, which also removes all their comments, violating or not.
It's a reason to believe that the devil exists and wants to destroy the Catholic Church. He does it through all sorts of people, freemasons (the Church's greatest enemy) protestants, muslims, atheists, etc etc.
I watched a video once showing the agenda of the freemasons and just how flooded American politiics and juridictions are with freemasons. It's all hidden behind the curtain of course.
No wonder the world is in turmoil, these the people making the decisions about America and the rest of the world.
Anyway my answer might be deleted or reported but who cares.
I don't know, but it is most certainly not a violation of free speech. Yahoo can censor whoever or whatever they want. The First Amendment applies to government censorship. I am constantly amazed and appalled at how many people can't seem to grasp that very basic fact.
I am not religious but this is wrong and something should be done. I know that Americans hate it when they're opposed so maybe the scu- I mean people are rising up. This is, again, not right. You should be free to believe in what ever you like.
Your article does not mention Yahoo! Answer censorship.

Ask yourself this, as a catholic am I worshiping God as He says in spirit and truth? If God says that man made righteousness is as dirty rags, where is purgatory, mortal sin and praying to Mary in the Bible if you can't find it it is not catholic bashing it is trying to get catholics to see that they are following a man and not God. I was educated 12 yrs. in catholic schools, so I know what the catholic church is about.Read Romans 10:3 to see where catholics are at and the company they are in and stop crying cause it ain't Boyce and Boice the 2 demons that try to stop the truth from going out here on R&S for they know who catholics serve, their boss.
I know, I wanted to ask Crazy Arab why he accuses Christians of be pedophiles when his own Prophet Mohammad married a 9 year old girl? And they wouldn't let me post it even.
Wow, yahoo should not be taking sides in matters of opinion considering this is an open forum.
Cause people are idiots as usual. Let everyone's comment stay.
