I have three 12" JL Audio w3 subwoofers in a triangular box and I wanted to know what is the best position to place my speakers for the best sound. Or would facing the speakers towards the back AND putting it close to the trunk walls be the best?

Generally, facing the back will give you better output. You would'nt want to put them too close to the walls of the trunk. Try to keep them about a foot or so from the rear wall of the trunk.
This is the perfect answer by ( just asking ) how any one could give this a thumbs down is beyond me
through personal experience i have found that if you face your speakers towards the rear of the trunk you get more bass output, but if you face your speakers towards the front of the car you get a little bit less bass, and at the same time much clearer bass. either way you should always bolt down or screw down your subwoofer box in order to get consistent bass. you should try both ways out to see what better suits your taste.

as i have been involved in judging SPL Cars Facing the rear of the car is best for all SUBs

Those speakers will sound best if you face them towards the trunk and place them as far back against the rear seat as possible.
I've had subs in my cars ever since the day I passed my test, and I'd say the people who have answered before me have pretty much got it spot on. I've found I get the best result out of my subs by pointing them backwards and slightly upwards at about 45 degrees from the floor. The best thing to do is just experiment yourself and find out what you like best, its you thats got to listen to it at the of the day.
See, in case of subwoofers, for low frequency reproduction, your car space will completely be a pressure zone. So, there's no difference on the subwoofer placement.Just see that, as much as possinble, there are no obstacles in the wave path, to avoid unwanted reflections.
in customers cars i usually put the sub facing the trunk. i honestly don't see a difference if you face the subs the other way
well it depends. i would face them into the cabin because it will be easier to hear distortion on them. it will not rattle your trunk as bad either.
