Its a little late to start, since he just hit a year old, but i want to teach him tricks, and hes REALLY SMART. He's a bengal mixed with a tabby, so hes really energetic.
Like, i know that i need to use positive reinforcement, with his favorite salmon treats, i just dont know like, where to start...so any help would be super!
(we havent had the cat since kittenhood, it was original my sisters, but she decided to let us keep him since shes having a kid and we have dogs so he wont be super bored and such)
(he doesn't really like affection, only when he wants it. Hes energetic, playful, very bengal-like)

How do you have a "Bengal mixes with tabby" when ones a breed and one's a coat pattern? Less than 3% of cats are any breed and breeders tend to sell their kittens altered. So VERY unlikely this cat is part Bengal. That's just what the lowly backyard breeder your sister bought him from - probably on craigslist - told them.
A cat's never too old to learn tricks but with cats it's only if THEY decide they want to learn. They're not pack animals like dogs that do everything they can to please the owner. Get a clicker from the pet store, use the favourite treats and when the pet does the behavior you want click the clicker and give the cat a treat. There's lots of sites online with info about training dogs as well as cats.
Boy have I got a project for you! Clicker training! It is absolutely great for smart cats, they love learning things and if they are food motivated you're in! I'll paste in a site. The book was recommended to me and I got a clicker with the book. My cat knows left paw, right paw, here (like I point to an area and say here) which was leading up to getting him to walk into his carrier without him being scared.
I used human tuna and I bought a baby feeding spoon so the servings would be small. You hold the treat in your left hand behind your back. The clicker in your right hand. You treat if the cat does anything that comes close to doing what you want. And you click and treat immediately. If you point to a place and say here and the cat looks in that direction, click/treat. If the cat gets up and moves 2 steps and sits down click and treat.immediately.
Another treat is Gerber's baby food meat flavor. You can get it best price at Walmart. My vet recommended Gerber as a way to get medications in my cat. No other brand because of their sodium content.
The book was recommend to me by a cat behaviorist at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, and Karen Pryor's method he what he uses.

Have fun!
I enjoyed reading Mircat's answer because my experience with cats has been that they will do what entertains THEM. We had a cat that loved to retrieve. We attached two ends of a pipe cleaner to make a circle and threw it in an arc. He would catch it in mid-air. He also liked to chase it if we threw it out in the hall. He would take turns with a group of people, giving each one of us the privilege of playing with him. He was a Siamese and very smart. I doubt that a year is too old to start.
