My sister insists I go out in the cold to tell the bus driver that the kids aren't going to school. Uhm.... why? I'm thinking its because she doesn't call the schools office to let them know and so she depends on me to tell the bus driver so she can write them down as "non attending" and so then the school will know. I really don't want to go out in the cold. Do you think its obligatory for me to tell the bus driver? I live in Wisconsin ifthat helps. I have exactly 50 minutes to go out there -__-

Absolutely not. Here, telling the bus driver that the children will not be in attendance is by no means a proper notification to the school. It isn't as if the bus driver radio's it in to the school, or walks into the school to tell them. The driver cannot leave the bus. He/she drops off the children and returns to the bus garage. Your sister should be making one, very simple, phone call to the school nurse to notify her that the children will not be in attendance today.
Forcing you to run out to the bus and tell them is just silliness. You can have one of your own children tell the driver not to wait for the other kids as they are sick, this way the driver doesn't wait for them.
No that's just weird, trust me, just take a note to the teacher next day, bus driver has nothing to do with attendance or school he's just a driver, just stay at home with your baby
I have on occasion just to wave them on by so they wouldn't have to hold up traffic. It depended on the temp and if there was someone else to watch the kid while I was outside. Our drivers wouldn't be telling the school though, it's not part of what they do. If your sister wants it done, then she should be the one doing it and you, the one being asked to do a favor. Should have your choice of assignments.
