There is may be a fault on the appliance, or the plug is incorrectly wired, try it in a different socket if it trips out all sockets again that confirms it. If the ring main (I assume you are from UK calling it a double socket) circuit breaker doesnt trip out then it may be a faulty socket and it needs replacing. I doubt on UK wiring its an overload that trips the breaker as UK plugs are fused with replacable fuse 13 A brown cartridge for kettles toasters washers fridges, 3 A red cartridge for radio ot tv . Dont forget on UK wiring a 13A plug brown (red old wiring) is live (hot US) to the fuse on the right blue (black old wiring) is neutral on the left and green/yellow is earth (ground UD) to the top tetminal
If no other receptacle on the circuit causes this problem I would suspect a faulty receptacle. The simplest thing to do would be to replace the receptacle if you know how to do that.. They only cost a buck or two.
