i was assistant camera on my high school's student film (i went to a film school).
it was this really shitty script about a girl who wanted to be valedictorian so bad she killed everyone to do it. my job was basically to set up the tripods and cameras and to slate (to put the clapper in front of the cameras and tell what scene and shot we were on for the editor). the director of photography (who i worked directly under) was a senior and i was a sophomore, he later became my first love, but that's beside the point. there were about 40 other kids who worked on the film, i was one of like 3 underclassmen and i probably had the highest up job of us. the 40 of us, and one teacher spent about 3 months together, nonstop! I came home every night from set at around 2 in the morning absolutely exhausted and got up the next morning at 5 to either go to school or go to the set, or both. the whole 40 of us got so close so fast and we were like a huge family and i would do anything to relive those few months again, i barely talk to any of them anymore, not even my first love, but i wish they all knew how happy they made me, and i cherish the memories so much. they're all dispersed throughout florida and california and i'll probably never see most of them again.
thanks for listening, and thanks for making me think about them again- great question :)
