We will be getting our first puppy here in two weeks and are currently trying to figure out which dog food brand to use. He is a miniature goldendoodle. I have been looking at dogfoodadvisor.com; however, have noticed that many of the recommended brands are expensive. I am looking for a nutritious dog food that will not break the bank. Thanks for any help you can be!

Congrats on your new puppy. Premium foods can be expensive which is unfortunate but it's much the same for us... there is a higher cost for eating healthier. There are premium foods that have a lower price point; one in particular in Nutro Max. It has all the nutrition a growing puppy needs without all the stuff the puppy doesn't need.
Here is what the website says about Max... "Every dog deserves to be fed naturally. MAX® Dog Food offers great-tasting recipes that use only natural ingredients, such as real chicken, lamb or beef protein. We never use artificial colors, flavors or preservatives, chicken by-products or ground corn. And because we’re committed to giving your dog the highest-quality, safest food available, we make every recipe right here in our own U.S. facilities. Outsourcing to third-party manufacturers is never an option for us. Now every dog can have the premium, natural nutrition they deserve at prices that won’t break the bank."
Hope this helps.

Unfortunately, some of the best food is going to be expensive. Blue Buffalo is my dogs' favorite. One has a sensitive stomach and he is always able to keep down his food when he's fed blue buffalo. We buy it at petsmart, and it currently runs around $50/30lb bag. Quite expensive, but his health is phenomenal and the food is worth every penny. It was recommended to us by our local veterinarians.
Solid Gold has the best hypo-allergenic formulas. Most good pet supplies carry Solid Gold in USA and in Switzerland. their formulas are vacuum sealed, and made from fresh dried ingredients. You can check out their different kibbles on their website to see which might work for your dog.
Chicken soup, kirkland, taste of the wild and 4health are some better quality but not super expensive foods.
Try taste of the wild. It's a 4.5 star rated food and its reasonably priced. It's also grain free.
